CHUBB ANTI- BLOWPIPE BANKERS SAFE SECOND STRENGTH
Chubb Second Strength Bankers Safes are designed for the protection of irreplacable documents, precious stones, metals, or cash and bonds. They can best be described as miniature strongrooms, as they provide adequate protection on all sides against Fire, Drills and the oxy-acelene blowpipe. Chubb Blowpipe- and Drill-resisting Alloy completely surrounds the safe. This alloy offers very great resistance to the oxyacetylene blowpipe and also to all drills and cutting tools. There is the important addition of the Chubb Emergency re-locking device which comes into operation automatically if the safe is attacked by explosives or other means. This device has been proved many times in foiling attacks made on Chubb safes. Furthermore, the very considerable weight of even the smallest size of Chubb Second Strength Bankers Safe makes its bodily removal a matter of great difficulty and is a deterrent in itself.
The body has an overall thickness of 5 in. (127 mm.) incorporating 1 1/2 in. (38.10 mm.) of Chubb Blowpipe- and Drill-resisting Alloy. The outer shell is from 3/8 in. (9.52 mm.) tough Siemens Steel plate bent and electrically welded into solid box form with large rounded edges and corners. The space between the special alloy and the inner steel lining is filled with Chubb Tested and Certified Fire-resisting Material.
The door has an overall thickness of 8 in. (203 mm.) and incorporates a solid slab of Chubb Blowpipe- and Drill-resisting Alloy, 2 3/8 in. (60.32 mm.) thick. The outer and inner door plates are of 1/2 in. (12.7 mm.) tough Siemens Steel strongly rimmed and welded together. The door is hung by hardened steel pivots working in case-hardened steel cups electrically welded to the body of the safe.
A heavy lock case fitted with moving bolts of bright drawn steel 1 3/4 in. (44.45 mm.) in diameter, are positioned at both the front and hack edges and shoot behind the solid rebates in the safe body. These are operated by a double eccentric bolt-throwing mechanism.
The locking mechanism is secured by two Chubb key locks incorporating the Monitor patent, having duplicate keys with detachable bits. Alternatively, two keyless, four-number, combination locks can be fitted, which have dial check locks to prevent unauthorised tampering with the dials. Or a combination of Key and Keyless Locks could be fitted.
AUTOMATIC RE-LOCKING DEVICE
An important additional locking feature is the Chubb Automatic Re-locking Device which, being always on guard, comes into operation if a lock is dislodged by explosives or the door is attacked by other means.
Internal shelves can be fitted adjustable at 1 in. (25.4 mm.) pitch. Drawers with individual six-lever Chubb key locks supplied with duplicate keys or a cupboard and shelf or a combination of all three can be quoted as an extra, to suit individual requirements.
Standard finish is as follows : Door—medium grey enamel, Body—dark grey enamel, Interior—medium grey, Furniture--chromium plated, Handles—covered in black plastic.
